YouthConnekt Awards 2024 comes to a thrilling close with Muhorakeye Annet as the overall winner,taking home 25,000,000 FRW

Minister of Youth and Culture, Jean Nepo Abdallah, in his remarks, applauded the winners and emphasized that “this is a moment to celebrate the innovative spirit and resilience of our youth who are driving Rwanda’s future.” He also highlighted the importance of creating sustainable opportunities for the youth, with the government continuously supporting and empowering them to reach new heights.

Minister of ICT and Innovation, Ingabire Paul, also shared inspiring words, recognizing the dedication of the participants. He said, “These young innovators are the cornerstone of Rwanda's digital transformation, and the government is committed to providing them with the tools they need to succeed.”

PS GaspardMusonera echoed these sentiments, stating, “The creativity and resilience of Rwanda’s youth are an undeniable force, and it is through these qualities that we will build a brighter future for our nation.”

Ms. Shaima Hussein, UNDP’s Deputy Resident Representative a.i., commended the Rwandan government for its unwavering support of youth initiatives. She noted, “Rwanda is leading the way in creating an ecosystem where youth can thrive and drive Africa’s transformation.”

The ceremony also highlighted the exceptional achievements of several winners, who were awarded significant cash prizes to further their ventures:

  • Uwineza Shakila: Winner in the Women’s Category, awarded 5,000,000 FRW for her agribusiness, SHAKY LTD, which produces innovative pepper products.
  • Ufitimana Pacifique: Winner in the Youth with Disabilities Category, receiving 5,000,000 FRW for her work in providing accessible public services in Rutsiro.
  • Uwiduhaye Ligobert: Visual Arts Winner, awarded 10,000,000 FRW for his stunning wildlife art at his studio, SAWA in Musanze.
  • Ndaruhutse Merci: Performing Arts Winner, taking home 10,000,000 FRW for his work in the entertainment industry, especially with the Gen ZComedy Show.
  • Biseruka Joshua: Literary Arts Winner, who secured 10,000,000 FRW for his digital storytelling projects at Umuraza Arts.
  • Nsanzimana Janvier: #AgriConnekt Winner, awarded 25,000,000 FRW for his agribusiness, Innovate for Better Independence Ltd, which produces high-quality fresh juices.

Additional recognitions were given to Michel Nshimiyimana, 2nd Runner-Up, who won 15,000,000 FRW for his tourism company, Volcano Overview Safaris, and Dufatanye Jean Claude, 1st Runner-Up, who earned 20,000,000 FRW for his innovative work in technology and electronics.

The night was a powerful reminder of the immense potential of Rwanda’s youth, and the incredible impact they are making in shaping the future of the nation and Africa.;
